A mother zipping up her daughter’s dress, a groom looking impatiently at his watch - these are some of the first ideas that spring to mind when you’re thinking about photos of a couple getting ready for their Boston Wedding. But in the short time before the start of the ceremony there’s an incredible energy and a lot of great moments that an experienced photographer can help you capture.

5. Getting Warmed Up - In the hours before a wedding there’s a lot of nervous energy that tends to break out in a lot of silly ways. Whether it’s bridesmaids breaking into an impromptu dance or the groomsmen getting ready to pull a prank on the groom, something fun is almost always going to happen getting ready for a Boston wedding.

4. The Little Details - Before anything has th e slightest wrinkle or your flowers have even conceived of wilting, your photographer can capture all the little details while you’re getting ready. Often these are things the couple has poured so much thought and energy into and once the wedding starts it’s easy to miss them amidst everything else that’s happening. Flatlays are also popular with some couples, where a photographer will combine the wedding stationery and some key accessories into an Instagram-worthy tableau.

3. Impromptu Boudoir - for some bolder brides and grooms getting ready can be an opportunity to slip something more risque into the photo gallery as a surprise for their partner (though just make sure you have one gallery for just the two of you and one gallery for everyone else). It’s a day when you’ve been building up to looking your best, you’ve got your hair and makeup all styled perfectly, and maybe have spent far too much money on bridal lingerie, so it can be very empowering if you weren’t able to schedule a boudoir session during the run up to the wedding.

2. Planning for the Album - Getting ready shots can be a great part of any storybook wedding album; after all every story needs to have a beginning, a middle, and an ending. With digital galleries having photos of the beginning of the first day of the rest of your lives together means you can go back to all of those little moments since you don’t need to pay for an 8x10 of every shot your Boston wedding photographer took.

1. The Reveal - That magical moment when you first see the bride or groom isn’t just limited to their partner. Friends, parents, and family members will all have their own unique reactions and it can be a very powerful moment to capture as a Boston wedding photographer when a father first sees his daughter in her wedding dress, or when a grandma sees their favorite grandchild all grown up and ready to get married.

What are some of the moments you’re looking forward to while you get ready for your wedding? Do you have any special plans or surprises for the wedding party or your partner?
