When to Shoot Your Bridal Portraits | Boston Bridal Photography
There’s rarely a wrong time to schedule your New England bridal session with Ryan Richardson Photography.
So you’re thinking about getting your Boston bridal portraits done, what’s the best timeline to make that work with your wedding?
Traditionally, bridal portraits are shot a few months in advance of the wedding day in order to make time for processing and enlargements as the images were often used in reception decor. In the digital age, as bridal portraits have evolved and spread across the country, the timeline has changed. Now couples are more frequently booking a portrait session together to get back in that wedding attire one more time and have a blast getting the shots they wanted but might have missed out on during the wedding day. Anniversaries are a popular occasion to dust off the matrimonial duds. Couples that are on destination weddings will sometimes arrange to have a bridal shoot during that trip so they can take full advantage of an exotic location. There’s really no wrong time!
Bridal portraits can also be a great way to transport your wedding in time. If you enjoyed a spring wedding but wanted some of those fall colors, you can set up a Boston bridal photography session for the autumn. Think that the stark look of a bride in a field of white is fetching? Then warm yourself up for a winter bridal session. There are dozens of possibilities and different times of year can offer tremendously different results even if you’re shooting in the same location.
Once you’ve picked a date and location, you’ll also want to pick a time. When working outdoors the best times tend to be the two hours following sunrise or the two hours prior to sunset, where the light tends to be warm and soft. You can check online for where the sun will be on the dates you prefer and make a plan with your favorite wedding photographer to ensure the perfect conditions for your shoot. Doing portraits at night or in-studio will give you more flexibility with time.
When are you planning your Boston bridal shoot? Did you feel like you had to trade off some photo opportunities when you picked a wedding date? Let’s talk about that and get you booked for your session today.
