Nick & Brian’s Cape Cod Wedding: A Story of Second Chances and Seaside Magic

A family gathers to celebrate Nick and Brian’s wedding on the beach by Seaside in Dennisport, MA on Cape Cod.

There’s something timeless about Cape Cod—the way the light hits the water, the soft breeze off the dunes, the way it holds memory like the sea holds the tide. For Nick and Brian, Cape Cod wasn’t just a beautiful place to get married. It was a return to something sacred. A place full of childhood echoes. And, maybe most of all, a place that gave them a second chance at love.

When Nick and Brian met, it wasn’t planned or expected. They were both in their 50s, both having lived full lives, with all the joy and heartbreak that come with being human. But there was something electric—and deeply peaceful—about the way they saw each other. “It felt like coming home,” Nick said quietly, the day we met to walk the ceremony site.

They chose The Seaside, a cluster of summer cottages tucked away in South Yarmouth, for their wedding ceremony. It’s where Brian used to spend childhood summers, building sandcastles and catching minnows in the tide pools. The cottages have weathered over the years—grayed wood, rusted hinges—but the beauty hasn’t faded. It’s aged gracefully, like a good love story.

As the sun began to dip over the water, Nick and Brian stood together barefoot in the sand, surrounded by close family and a few teary-eyed friends. Their vows were soft and simple, more like promises between old souls than declarations. There were no big productions, no drama—just honesty, gratitude, and the quiet power of love rediscovered.

After the ceremony, everyone made their way up the road to Pelham House Resort for an intimate seaside reception. It was the kind of gathering where the champagne flowed easily, but the conversation flowed easier. There were speeches filled with laughter, toasts filled with tears, and a dance floor full of people who were simply overjoyed to celebrate two people who had found each other—at just the right time.

We stole a few moments at sunset for portraits on the bluff overlooking Nantucket Sound. The light was golden, the air was warm, and Nick looked over at Brian like he couldn’t believe his luck. “If you'd told me five years ago that I’d be standing here, married to him... I wouldn’t have believed you,” he said.

Love doesn’t always arrive when we expect it. But sometimes it shows up exactly when we need it most.

And when it does, it’s worth celebrating with sand between your toes, salt in the air, and the kind of joy that lingers long after the tide has rolled in.
