Amidst the first buds of spring in, Katie and Chris came together to celebrate their wedding along with a small group of friends and family at Boston's Liberty Hotel, a place that had become so special during the couple's courtship. The couple, originally from California, blended just the right mix of a laid-back garden party with the eclectic elegance the Liberty had to offer.

The wedding began with a simple ceremony in the Liberty Hotel's yard and it was a beautiful day for Boston Wedding Photography, with a slowly setting sun having driven off the earlier showers of the day. The couple symbolized the blending of their families with a unity candle ceremony, in spite of the stiff spring breeze that was rustling through the trees. The two families helped to block the wind as each candle was lit and then brought together.

Following the ceremony, Katie and Chris took advantage of the Liberty Hotel's unique history and beautiful architecture for a few portraits. It's always nice when you don't have to fight through the streets of Boston to get to great photo opportunities (and it means that the couple can enjoy more of their party). The cocktail reception commanded the fourth-story balcony that wrapped around the inside of the hotel lobby, with great views out the windows of the Charles and parts of the Boston Skyline.

With help from Mass Rhythm and catering by the Liberty Hotel, the reception was a mix of relaxed dining through the space's different rooms, conversation in the lounge area and a rotating cast of characters hitting the dance floor. At night, the Liberty Hotel gets even better for Boston Wedding Photography, but before I could convince our coordinator to let us onto the roof (possibly with bribes) fate conspired to trip the fire alarm as the evening was getting too hot to handle.
